Family

Our strong family law team, comprising two partners and four solicitors, are available to deal with all types of family law including divorce and the financial aspects of marital breakdown.

Our Chapeltown office specialises in cases involving violence against women, applications for residence orders and contact orders for children, and Local Authority applications for Care Orders and Supervision Orders. We have three solicitor members of the Law Society Children Panel. We provide our clients with an in-depth service, referring when necessary to outside agencies for assistance with family mediation or to help women fleeing violence. We can provide specialised advice on the family law aspects of their immigration situation to clients from overseas and we act for unaccompanied minors. Members of the team offer training in various aspects of the law to the police, social workers and voluntary workers with not-for-profit agencies.

Our offices at Crossgates and Garforth provide a full range of family legal services, dealing with divorce, financial relief and injunctions out of the city centre with easy parking and a relaxed environment.

Children in care

Our family team includes Jo Trythall and Evelyn Norman both of whom are long-standing members of the Law Society's specialist Children's Panel. We have in-depth experience of dealing with the legal aspects of care proceedings from the first Child Protection Conference through to the final court hearing. We advise clients on the significance of Local Authority actions and how best to approach the legal process. We provide clear, realistic advice about the situation outside court, excellent representation in court and sympathetic support for parents and children through a stressful experience. Parents and children involved in care proceedings do not have to pay their legal costs. These are funded by the Legal Services Commission without means testing.
